Wearing White AFTER Labor Day

I'll admit it. I slacked on this post. Clearly these pictures were taken well before Labor Day and I was worried I had missed my opportunity to use them in a timely fashion. We've all heard the old adage "don't wear white after Labor Day," and Bustle can tell you why that's bunk and how it all started.

Even though fashion rules are meant to be broken, I kind of had it in my head that I would maybe need to tuck away these pants until May until I saw some of the NYFW street style (Exhibit A, B, C) and knew that these pants could take me year round. This top, while definitely much more of a spring summer look, can transition great with a navy trousers or a cropped leather moto and some skinnies.

But let's be real, you've seen these pants before here and here, all within a summer setting, and I wasn't kidding when I declared them part of my warm weather uniform. I'm just expanding my apparel into multiple seasons, and breaking some fashion rules along the way.

Tell me: what pieces are you transitioning into the fall in?

SEPTEMBER

Bergdorfs
Source: Bergdorf's

Happy September, all! September is one of my most favorite months. While I'm sad to see the summer go, I love the arrival of fall fashion and encyclopedia - sized September issues, not to mention it also means MBFW is just around the corner!

In honor of September I pulled together my 3 favorite fashion-based documentaries:

Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorfs: This documentary takes the viewer behind the scenes of iconic fashion retailer Bergdorf Goodman. From the designers, to the shoppers and their larger-than-life window displays, this movie brings the viewer into all the luxury and opulence that is Bergdorfs. Available on both Amazon and Netflix.

The September Issue: Ever wonder what goes into Vogue's nearly 1,000 page September issues? Than this movie is for you. Go behind the scenes with Anna Wintour and Vogue to learn about how the world's most famous designers all play a role in the creation of the September issue. Frequent cameos are made by Karl Lagerfeld, Vera Wang, and Oscar de la Renta among many others. Available for download or purchase via Amazon.

Bill Cunningham New York: This documentary is about so much more than fashion. If you ever wondered who was the mastermind behind the New York Times amazing street/society style sections, look no further than Bill Cunningham. I personally was so inspired by Bill's dedication, his work ethic and ability to stay grounded in his world of photographing glitz and glamour. Available for download or purchase via Amazon.

Happy Watching and Happy September!
