Guys, how gorgeous and feminine are these Giambattista Valli floral pumps? Between the cherry blossoms blooming in D.C. and the onset of spring weather, I'm totally swooning over these delicate shoes.

I had that moment where my shirt, sweater, necklace and bag were all J.Crew, so I figured why not document it? Also, despite the fact that it is freezing on the East coast, I love that this traditional summer palate of colors [red, white & blue] is working in the winter too.

Wearing White AFTER Labor Day

I'll admit it. I slacked on this post. Clearly these pictures were taken well before Labor Day and I was worried I had missed my opportunity to use them in a timely fashion. We've all heard the old adage "don't wear white after Labor Day," and Bustle can tell you why that's bunk and how it all started.

Even though fashion rules are meant to be broken, I kind of had it in my head that I would maybe need to tuck away these pants until May until I saw some of the NYFW street style (Exhibit A, B, C) and knew that these pants could take me year round. This top, while definitely much more of a spring summer look, can transition great with a navy trousers or a cropped leather moto and some skinnies.

But let's be real, you've seen these pants before here and here, all within a summer setting, and I wasn't kidding when I declared them part of my warm weather uniform. I'm just expanding my apparel into multiple seasons, and breaking some fashion rules along the way.

Navy & White: The Summer Uniform

Happy Memorial Day, all! I hope everyone had a great weekend and start to their summer. This weekend [and all summer long] I rocked my "summer uniform" aka navy and white everything. I love this color combo, it's the perfect chic summer pairing. From desk to date night or beach to BBQ, I can't get enough navy and white into my summer wardrobe. What's everyone else wearing this summer? Anyone else have a "summer uniform?"

The Daytime LBD

I'm not a fan of having having one-purpose clothing, i.e. a "work wardrobe" and "weekend wear." I think the key to a functional wardrobe is having multipurpose pieces that you can dress up or down and wear day or night. This strategy has helped me rethink how I style and pair pieces, while also helping stay on budget. I recently purchased this LBD and loved the unique neckline and body conscious fit. While most people think LBD = date night uniform, I'm determined to get more wear out of this dress beyond when the sun goes down. I present you with the daytime LBD, paired down with my favorite army green jacket and styled with minimal jewels.

Last Thursday, myself and three other fashionistas of DC got together for a Girl's Night Out (GNO) at lou lou in DuPont. We rocked to music wearing the latest fall styles while sipping on some wine and enjoying some sushi - what more could you want from a girl's night?

Each of us, with our distinct style, shared with the group our look and why we chose it. The staple of my selection was this Wells Grace feather-fringe vest. I love wearing fur in the fall. I think it's such a great way to extend the life of your summer pieces before packing them away for the season. Pair it with a maxi dress or skirt, or skinnies and a tank like I did below.

Girl's Night Out @ lou lou

Fall Fete

This week marked the start of fall - one of my favorite seasons. I love the scents, colors and textures these months bring, and I'm not just talking about pumpkin spice lattes and chunky knits - although those are great, too!
