Sport Your Stripes

Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to live in a city big enough that I would never need a car. Flash forward many years later, and the first thing I did after graduating college and before moving to a new big city was sell my car and I haven't looked back since. While I love the freedom of not having one, sometimes getting around town without it can be a hassle. On weekends when I do most of my "running around town," my outfits usually reflect this lifestyle. On days when I know I'll be out all day, I dress based on functionality and choose pieces that are able to withstand public transit and/or able to walk multiple city blocks. In my city living experience these pieces tend to be durable cottons, lighter-weight fabrics, and if you are like me and can't part with your heels for even daytime errands, opt for a wedge.

Crop Tops & Trousers

Recently I went to a rave brunch with a couple of girlfriends in downtown D.C., which if you are in the area, I cannot recommend enough. La Boum is brunch meets rave meets dance party meets night club all in one setting. What better reason do you need to break out your hot pink accessories and crop tops than a boozy summer brunch?

Thursday Inspo: 6.4.15

New York City Inspirational Quote

Happy Thursday, all! Today's inspo comes to us from New York which is where I currently am for work. I thought the quote could not be more fitting for me today, and New York in general. I was in the news studio at 5:30 a.m. launching the Anchor It! campaign with my client and HGTV star Tiffany Brooks. Despite my less than 4 hours sleep, my energy is high. It's that New York air. Every time I am here, I fall in love with this city a little more. I'm convinced that one of these days I'm going to come here and never leave.

Fall Fete

This week marked the start of fall - one of my favorite seasons. I love the scents, colors and textures these months bring, and I'm not just talking about pumpkin spice lattes and chunky knits - although those are great, too! Below are some early fall photos from a recent wedding I attended, with a special photo at the end of the gorgeous bride.

Piped Stripes

Happy Thursday, all! Hope everyone has been having a great summer so far. Hard to believe it's almost over! Most of my summer weekends have been spent traveling to bachelorette parties, weddings and baby showers. So, with most my weekends spent traveling from event to event, my go-to weekend wear for summer has been ready-to-wear, easy cotton dresses. The kind of dress that I know no matter how long I have to be in it, I'll be comfortable the entire time. The photos above are from a 3-event day where I was in the dress for almost 14 hours - marathon!

Vintage Silk Special

Happy Tuesday, all! Today's post is a special one. The dress in today's post is a 20 year old silk dress purchased in the alley markets in Beijing that was gifted to me. With a few very minor alterations and some fun accessories, I have a brand new, one-of-a-kind LBD that I absolutely love. The quality of the silk is amazing and the draping and pleats of it make this an effortless dress.
