Winter [Reds, Whites] Blues

Have you ever left your home and realized you were wearing almost entirely all one brand? I had that moment where my shirt, sweater, necklace and bag were all J.Crew, so I figured why not document it? Also, despite the fact that it is freezing on the East coast, I love that this traditional summer palate of colors [red, white & blue] is working in the winter too.

Keep scrolling for a cozy winter look, that's unintentionally patriotic and brought to you [mostly] by J. Crew.

Lost in Thought

Meditation and reflection

I am a strong believer in goal and intention setting. For as long as I can remember I've made new year resolutions. I loved the idea that everyone, everywhere took the new year as an opportunity to refocus on themselves, set goals and prioritze their needs; even if it only lasted a few weeks. Every year my resolutions always focus on self improvement and the idea that you can always do more to be better.

With that theme always in mind, one of my (many) 2016 resolutions is to be more mindful; mindful of myself, those around me, my emotions, habits, relationships, etc. I can easily get swept up in the day-to-day hustle and bustle of life and the needs of others. So, I'm consciously making an effort to be more mindful.

I've been on the hunt for some good meditation and mindfulness apps to help me with this goal and found UCLA's free guided meditations. UCLA has an entire research center dedicated to mindfulness, which produced the free series linked above. Lately, I've been loving their body scan for sleep meditation and their mediation for loving kindness. If you have additional apps or tips for being more mindful in 2016, I'm all ears!

The Daytime LBD

I'm not a fan of having having one-purpose clothing, i.e. a "work wardrobe" and "weekend wear." I think the key to a functional wardrobe is having multipurpose pieces that you can dress up or down and wear day or night. This strategy has helped me rethink how I style and pair pieces, while also helping stay on budget. I recently purchased this LBD and loved the unique neckline and body conscious fit. While most people think LBD = date night uniform, I'm determined to get more wear out of this dress beyond when the sun goes down. I present you with the daytime LBD, paired down with my favorite army green jacket and styled with minimal jewels.

Who says you can't wear an LBD to brunch?

Happy Tuesday, all! Hope everyone is having a great summer. I just got back from a fantastic vacation from Boston and Martha's Vineyard. More posts to come on each of those locations. This outfit was photographed on one of my days just bumming around the island checking out all the cute shops.

Not-So-Basic Black

Happy Saturday, all! I love this black pencil skirt from Zara because it is so versatile. I can pair it with a crop top and booties for date night or a button up and nude pumps for 9-5; not to mention it zips all the way up the back for a bit of added detail making it your not-so-basic black skirt.

Daisy Dearest

I'll admit it, I'm a sucker for a good sale and bargain find. The other weekend I came across this shirt at my local Marshall's store and just had to buy it because it was such a steal (not to mention I love the adorable daisy print)!
